A living archive

From collecting to creating

The record is presented as a sequence of distinct exhibitions, recognitions and archive milestones. Dates and claims below are based on the artist’s CV, archive documents and the current exhibition material.

  1. 1965

    The beginning

    A lifelong collection begins

Raúl Blisniuk began collecting Beatles material in 1965. What started as personal fascination developed into a private archive connecting music, memory and material culture.

  2. 1996

    First major exhibition

Palais de Glace · Buenos Aires

The Beatles Exhibition opened at Palais de Glace. The presentation was accompanied by the book The Beatles Collection, documenting the archive and its story.

  3. 1998

    International recognition

    Guinness World Records

The collection was recognized by Guinness World Records as the largest Beatles collection in South America.

  4. 2002

    Second major exhibition

    La Rural · Pabellón Frers

A new edition of The Beatles Exhibition was presented at La Rural in Buenos Aires, from 18 October to 24 November 2002. The artist archive records approximately 1,000 objects in the exhibition.

  5. 2010

    Archive milestone

    Banco Ciudad presentation

The Beatles collection returned to public attention through a major Banco Ciudad auction—one of the documented presentations in the archive’s history.

  6. 2013

    Archive milestone

    Sarachaga presentation

A further presentation at the Sarachaga auction house extended the public life of the collection beyond the original museum-scale exhibitions.

  7. 2019

    Artist exhibition

    Homage to John Lennon

At Centro Cultural Borges, Raúl presented more than 100 of his own works in an exhibition dedicated to John Lennon. This was an art exhibition—not another display of the collection—and marks the point where collecting and creating visibly converge.

  8. 2026

    Current exhibition

The Beatles · Collection + Art

Opened 9 September 2026 at Museo Lucy Mattos in Beccar, Buenos Aires. Curated by Julio Sapollnik, the exhibition places material from the private collection in dialogue with Raúl Blisniuk’s original art.
